Here are our weekly indicators from our recent staff meeting:
We’re really excited to have surpassed the 200 – farmer milestone and farmers are making steady progress towards their savings goals.
Non-starters are farmers who have joined myAgro but have not started making a savings payment. We’re tracking these numbers every week, with the goal of having 100% starters before February 15th. Our theory is that the sooner farmers start their savings payments, the more likely they will be able to reach their savings goal before planting time.
Indicators in red are areas of concern – Bougoula is the largest village we’re working in, and it’s also a market center for the commune. Farmers are busier and social ties are not as strong as in the smaller villages. We’re working on adapting our message and the method of building a strong network in the village. In smaller villages working with the cotton cooperative board members and village assistants have been enough to help us build rapport and trust with farmers. In Bougoula, we’re finding we need to build several networks outside of the cooperatives to build the same level of trust and excitement. One such network is led by an incredibly strong village vendor partner, Moussa Coulibaly. Moussa owns the village store that sells myAgro saving cards. This Saturday we’re leading our first Village Vendor Training to replicate Moussa’s best practices across our other vendors and motivate Moussa to continue to be a leader in Bougoula!
