Ally Mphwahera is a farmer, husband, and father of 4 from the Naipanga village in Tanzania who has been farming with myAgro for 2 years. Before joining myAgro, Ally says that he never used fertilizer to plant maize or other crops.
During Ally’s first year with myAgro he purchased a 0.5-acre maize package and he harvested 7.5 Bags of maize which he said he never thought was even possible to get such a good harvest.
“That fed me the whole year and I gave some to my family members.”After finding success with myAgro as a farmer, he wanted to become a VE.“I was much interested in knowing more about myAgro and then I became a VE where I was trained in agriculture modules that helped me a lot to train my farmers and other farmers.
Ally has been a high-performing VE, enrolling 190 farmers during the 2020-2021 season and used his own farming to inspire the farmers he worked with.
“I was able to enroll 190 farmers. As a village entrepreneur in a village where our farms are allocated far away from home, I decided to plant my 0.25 acre of Sunflower as a demo plot in the village, so everyone can see it easily,” he told our team. “The field has earned recognition as the best farm in the whole village and through this field, many farmers have approached me and asked ‘How do I enroll with myAgro packages so that I can have more yields and an outstanding field like yours?’”
Ally is now seen as an expert farmer in his village due to his success and his ability to support the farmers he serves as VE.
“Now everyone addresses me as an agriculture officer. I have been called to different farms to check and advise with such recognition I plan to enroll more than 250 farmers and finish with 200 clients.”
