Khadija Seck is a call agent who joined myAgro in May 2021, supporting farmers through the phone from the call center at the Thies office in Senegal.
Before myAgro Khadija would spend her days browsing the web, questioning whether she would like to continue her studies or enter the workforce. That was until a friend approached her and told her about a position as a call agent with myAgro. Hearing this, Khadija became curious and eagerly applied for the opening.
“A friend told me about myAgro because she knew I would like it and I joined,” Khadija said. “I joined because I wanted the professional experience.”
Khadija has made many genuine connections with farmers during her time as a call agent and shares some of her top tips for connecting with farmers.
“You got to make them feel comfortable first. You got to watch your tone of voice and not call them by their first name, that’s not respectful. Instead, you can call them mama, papa uncle aunty,” she said.
Khadija’s approach has been so successful that two farmers have come to the call center to thank her in person, sharing with her how respectful and helpful she was to them and that her calls gave them all the information that they needed.
“My job is about sales and advertising myAgro and following up with farmers,” Khadija said. “It’s important because I can call the farmers and tell them exactly what they need, give them the training that they need and keep them loyal.”
Khadija is a fierce contributor to strengthening myAgro’s effort to reach our north star.
“The call center is one of the most important departments in myAgro, to reach our goal we do it through the phone. Every mission at myAgro has its own objective, ours is done through the phone,” she shared.
Khadija has come a long way since joining myAgro in developing her professional skillsets and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“I have learned a lot from the marketing and advising side of it. I found something new, and I am learning about it, it’s like a new career for me. In the future, I want to work in human resources and become a manager.”
