Mariam Diakite is a 60-year-old, mother of 6, and a first-year farmer with myAgro in the village of Sounkala, Mali.
Mariam enrolled for a ¼ package of maize and told our team that she was in disbelief at how much she was able to grow and harvest.
“I am delighted with my farm.” Mariam shared. “I never believed I would have 11 bags my first year farming!”
Mariam believes that the harvest will be of great support to herself and her family.“I will sell some of the maize and use the revenue to satisfy my personal needs and support the expenses of my grandchildren,” she shared. “The remaining will be used for feeding my family.”
Mariam’s agricultural training helped her to get an excellent harvest. She learned various methods to help her sow seeds and discovered the differences in soil.
“I participated in the training and they helped me to know the method of sowing with rope,” she said. “Additionally, I learned the difference between the soils, especially to know which one had good manure, and also how to use microdosing to increase my harvest.”
Mariam shared that she sees the difference between her myAgro harvest and non-myAgro harvest. This difference has inspired her to re-enroll for next season so that she can continue the success she has grown.
“My harvest was really great as compared to those of other farmers who even had larger farms. I think I will re-enroll with myAgro next year to always benefit from these high-quality inputs.”
