Salma Issa works at the call center in Tanzania. Above all, she is a mother, with a love of agriculture. She grows peanuts and cashews. In 2021, she enrolled in myAgro and achieved higher yields than previous seasons. She was so happy with these results that she recommended myAgro to her family members, who became customers as well. Because of the profits Salma and her family got from selling their harvests, they plan to increase their package purchases. Later on, she joined myAgro team as a control agent to monitor both myAgro and non-myagro fields to evaluate impacts, after earning a degree in geography and environmental studies. Looking to further expand opportunities and skills, she was hired as a myAgro call center agent in Nanyumbu, Southern Tanzania. Salma has developed a trusting relationship with farmers thanks to her interpersonal skills. She is able to assist farmers with myAgro tools due to her agricultural background and experience as a farmer. “I enjoy being near the farmers. They recognize me and address me by name as soon as I call. Building trusting relationships is important to me because it increases producers’ trust in myAgro.”
She is well-known for being a customer-focused agent who consistently exceeds expectations. “Salma is one of the most successful call center agents,” says Mansurah Yusuph, Program Associate. “Since her arrival, she has performed admirably and maintained positive relationships with everyone.”
She enjoys being of service to the farmers and sharing her knowledge. She says she enjoys having direct contact with farmers, getting to know them better, and learning about their problems so she can find appropriate solutions. She places a high value on the quality of her services in order to ensure farmer satisfaction.
“Since joining myAgro, I’ve gained a lot of confidence and skills. I’ve grown a lot since I was a control agent and am now a call center agent “, Salma says. “I even do some administrative work, so I have plenty of opportunities for personal growth. As a result of this, I see myself in a variety of positions.”
Salma has grown her skills, particularly in terms of communication with farmers. “Sometimes, communication with farmers can be strained due to their moods, personal issues, or product-related issues,” she explains. “I’ve learned to understand their reactions and find alternatives to overcome these roadblocks to deliver a quality service while also meeting the needs of the farmers.”
myAgro invests in our farmers; they are partners in our important work and multi-talented people with a wide range of growing skills. We are honored to help farmers grow more food and earn more income, and we are proud when our farmers expand their career opportunities and choose to do so with myAgro.
