Friends,
We celebrate the achievements of our women farmers every day. 65% of myAgro farmers are female. In honor of International Women’s Day, we launched a matching campaign to raise funds that will support these extraordinary women. Through March 31st, any donation made will be matched and help us reach more women and expand our program to better meet their needs as smallholder farmers.
Awa Doumbia is a second-year myAgro member. Her goal is to use her farm profits to run a small business selling rice in her local market throughout the year. As one of three women in her family who enrolled with myAgro, she likes being able to save little by little and appreciates the technical practice and the ability to increase her harvest every year. myAgro is proving to female farmers like Awa that food security and a reliable income are not just dreams; they can be a reality. Farmers in our program increased their harvests by 50-100%, leading to a $150-300 increase in income. By giving them the opportunity to save up for farming inputs via mobile layaway and to learn the skills needed to increase their harvests, we believe we can empower female farmers and help them invest in their greatest asset: their land.
It doesn’t take a lot to make a difference so I urge you to make a donation, start a fundraiser, and inspire friends to get involved. For International Women’s Day, help drive change and support our women farmers! https://donate.myagro.org/wf2015
