myAgro’s diverse packages are created with farmers in mind– we want every farmer we work with to find the package that fits their needs and goals. We are especially passionate about providing women, who are often the primary caregivers, with options that allow them to bring in extra income while also allowing them to continue to focus on their children and families.
Therese Dibor Ngom is a 32-year-old mother of 4 from Soussane, Senegal who has embraced both farming and running her household. She has been a myAgro since 2021 and has added packages to her farm as her and her family’s needs have changed.
She first enrolled in myAgro’s bissap package in order to bring in extra income for her family. Last season, Therese was able to collect 4 bags of bissap that she then sold at the markets. However, she wanted to continue to grow herincome, so she looked to myAgro for help because she trusted our model and packages.
“I trust myAgro,” Therese shared, “Because all the products they have proposed I have found to be good.”
After learning more about our poultry package, Therese decided to enroll in hopes of growing her family’s nutrition and profit. After getting her chicks delivered, she tended to them and quickly saw their impact. Therese’s poultry farming was successful and the chickens she raised allowed her to feed her children instead of them having to depend on neighbors for nutrition.
“It is an advantage to be in poultry farming. It helps us to eat well,” Therese shared. “My kids don’t eat at the neighbor’s anymore.”
The ability for Therese to be able to ensure her children’s nutritional needs brings her joy and now, with her bissap and poultry profits, she is also able to make her income go even further by providing her children with the school supplies they need.
“Working with myAgro has helped me to pay for my children’s school fees and school materials such as bags for them,” she said. “I send my children to school and pay for their school fees and I have also bought clothes for them. It makes me happy to satisfy the needs of my children.”
Therese sees poultry farming as an positive opportunity for women in her village because it gives them the ability to have a role that brings additional income while also allowing them to continue to care for their families.
“Poultry farming allows us to have occupations and objectives,” Therese shared. “How I would describe my experience poultry farming with myAgro is beautiful and unforgettable, because it didn’t stop me from doing my activities [with my children].”
