Korika Doumbia is a mother of 10 children and a first-year farmer with myAgro who lives with her family in the village of Banankélé, Mali.
Korika enrolled for a ⅛ package of maize this past season. Her harvest grew from previous seasons and she sees this increase as a great success.
“My harvest this year is satisfying,” she said. “On my ⅛ hectare farm, I got 7 bags which for me is a great success.”
Korika’s harvest will help her to feed her family and also provide her with enough income to help her re-enroll for another myAgro package.
“I will feed my family with the harvest, I will sell the others and invest that in petty trade which will give me a revenue to enroll in next year’s package,” she said.
Korika told our team that she had good rainfall in her area and was able to keep her field protected from animals and pests. In addition to the great environment, the agricultural training she received from myAgro played a pivotal role in supporting her good harvest.
“myAgro’s training gave me knowledge about weed control and also how the rope sowing method. I have learned a lot and applied that to my farm and I saw the result.”
The call center also supported her to maintain her farm which played a role in increasing her harvest.
“Each time I received calls, I would ensure I had gathered all the information to share (with the call center) and this made me visit my farm regularly to maintain it from weeds and also keep it safe from animals,” Korika shared.
Korika sees that value in her partnership with myAgro and plans to continue to work with myAgro so that she can continue to increase her household income and provide even more for her family.
