Asha Matola is a farmer and mother of 5 from the Namasogo Village in Tanzania. She has been farming with myAgro for 1 year and enrolled in a 1-acre sesame package. Before joining, she was already farming sesame but had a very difficult time growing her income. Her lack of harvest resulted in Asha putting all her time, money, and effort into getting whatever yield she could from her fields, which were also located very far from home. This took her away from her family and left her with not enough resources to be able to invest in other activities. However, once she started farming with myAgro, things changed for the better. With access to quality fertilizer, training, and follow-up, Asha was able to start growing sesame on land close to her home rather than a long distance away and grew more sesame than she had before. Her myAgro harvest means that she not only grows more food but gains more time to spend with her children and to invest in her business.
“myAgro helped me to save time since I cultivate near my house. I can now do other activities such as seeing my children to school and having time to parent them, I am also now a local food vendor in my village. myAgro’s sesame package saved my daily schedule.”
Asha says that her investment in her field has been worth it and she says that she is so proud of her field that she travels to it often to admire what she has accomplished.
”The investment is worth it and I want to reap that benefit by getting more yields with myAgro. I always come here to see my field. It looks so beautiful that I want to stay here all the time.”
