Joyce is a farmer from the Nachingwea-Ndomondo village in Tanzania. She first joined myAgro in 2020 after enrolling in a half-acre of sesame and a half-acre package of Groundnuts. Once her crops grew, Joyce was excited by her result.
“I was impressed with the output on both fields. It had been so long since I witnessed such harvest,” Joyce shared. “I could not believe that was actually my field!”
Joyce is a mother of 3 who also helps support 4 grandchildren and a successful yield gave her the additional income needed to support her large family.
“I harvested 280kgs and despite many weather challenges, I was able to get that amount on only half an acre and it meant a lot to me because I then sold my sesame and was able to get $325.58,” Joyce said. “My groundnut harvest was also so good that I was able to give some groundnut harvest to family and friends and still had 7 bags left for myself!”
With her remaining groundnut harvest, Joyce sold bags to help her buy glass windows and other materials for her new house. These updates have made her house feel more like home. “Now that I have moved from my old house to the new modern house, I feel very safe and comfortable,” she said.
Joyce has had such a great experience with myAgro that she not only reenrolled for a 1-acre sesame package and a half-acre groundnut package, but she also persuaded her son to enroll in a half-acre of sesame seeds.
“So far, we are really happy with our fields and how they look and we can see we will get more yields. With this year’s harvest, I plan to buy furniture for my house and to continue to support my family.”
