Mariam Baldé is a 54-year-old farmer from Kolda, Senegal who embodies what it means to be dedicated to one’s family. She is a widow and mother of 8 who works hard to ensure she can support her children. Mariam joined myAgro earlier this year after hearing about the success of another myAgro farmer in her village. His harvest was a source of motivation for her to enroll.
“Last year, he was the only one with good groundnuts and the others did not get any. People asked him why his field was doing so well and he said it was because he was using myAgro fertilizers, so I joined,” she says. “I joined myAgro because when you plant a little you get a lot!”
Mariam hoped for a fruitful yield, like her neighbor, because she wanted to earn more income to provide for her kids. After a year of working with myAgro, she said she saw a vast improvement in her production, “The peanut looks different this year when compared to last year” she says. “Agriculture helps me pay for school fees, clothes, and above all, medical bills.”
Mariam hopes to continue to work with myAgro and continue to increase her household income and provide even more for her family.
