We’re excited to share that Mulago Foundation has awarded myAgro a catalyst grant to help us reach a new level of operational delivery! Mulago regularly invests in organizations that focus (and deliver) impact and scale – and we’re thrilled to be a part of such an inspiring group of organizations.
Thanks to Mulago, we’re going to launch a myAgro store, owned and operated by myAgro to reach villages that are too small to have a myAgro village partner. The myAgro store will be based in the market center of a commune, where upwards of 30+ villages come to shop, barter and sell goods to each other. We’ll use the same scratchcard model to sell mini planting kits – fertilizer, 1-2 seed varieties and a planting kit of a picture-based training guide, micro-dose fertilizer scoop and planting string.
The great part about the myAgro mini planting kits is that it appeals to a wide variety of farmers – those who are eager to try new farming innovations and those who are more cautious and would prefer to try less risky investments. The cautious farmers get a chance to test out multiple seed varieties before committing to planting 1 hectare (2.4 acres) or more with us in following seasons. When myAgro does expand to larger villages in the area, we’ll benefit from hopefully dozens of mini-myAgro fields throughout the commune! Our name and harvest results will be better known thanks to the mini-kits, which will help us reach our expansion goals next year.
