In our Senegal pilot program, we’re very fortunate to have many enthusiastic farmers who have become true champions of the myAgro model. These farmers significantly boost awareness as well as membership in the program within their local communities.
Lamine, from the village of SinthiouDamba, is one of these farmer champions. He was one of the first farmers to participate in our pilot program this past spring; and after judiciously following the myAgro method and working closely with our field extension agent in the area, Lamine was able to harvest the equivalent of 3 to 4 tons per hectare – over twice as much as the traditional harvest in this region. Lamine was visibly excited about his harvest. He said he has plans to use half to feed his family and will sell the other half in the local market in order to pay off the 1 hectare packet of peanuts he is purchasing from myAgro this year!
Lamine also recently received training to be the myAgro vendor in SinthiouDamba; every week, he makes the rounds of his village, going door-to-door and mobilizing farmers to sign up for the program. Because of his enthusiasm for myAgro, he has already recruited 15 new farmers from his village to sign up!
